Los Angeles Shopping!

Oef soo many options. Where to start? And every year new locations open up. Its booming and getting better every season. It depends a bit on how much you want to spend, but generally you’ll find, according to us at checkoutcities, five prime locations you wanna swing by to have a look (or two).

1. Third Street Promenade Santa Monica or in short 3rd Street.
Our favorite. Although spending a lot of time living in LA, 3rd Street has remained one of our happy places. It’s because of a combination of things. The closeness to the ocean, the cool see breeze, the light and bright of the architecture, the great number of shops and of course its proximity to Main Street, another Must See in Santa Monica. Park you car in the parking structure underneath Santa Monica Place Mall, you can enter via Broadway and it’s free for 3 hours entering before 5PM. Checkout more on www.downtownsm.com

2. Rodeo Drive Beverly Hills
For more high-priced items the three blocks of Rodeo Drive attracts the haute couture clothing lines. Slightly less expensive are the designer stores on Robertson Boulevard between Beverly Boulevard and Third Street.
Of course, Rodeo Drive is one of the most famous shopping streets in the world! We’ve spent quit some time here. Especially around Christmas time, the decorations are astonishing. And who hasn’t seen the movie Pretty Woman. It all went down here and in the hotel opposite the Rodeo Drive, the Beverly Wilshire. And if you need an engagement ring for your future fiancée, checkout Tiffany’s. I did and went broke. But you have a Tiffany’s and diamonds are girls’ best friend, right?

A fairly new shopping area in Los Angeles would be considered the Grove (189 the Grove Drive, CA 90036) on the corner of 3rd Street and Fairfax, next to the Farmers Market – an outdoor mall with every famous name shop you can think of. And a nice place to hang out. Its amazing to see how they have build this complex in just a relative short period of time, yet it looks like a small town. They actually build it with the intention to make it look like a small town, complete with a city hall featuring an Abercrombie & Fitch store catering to the young and beautiful. www.thegrovela.com

4. Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, home to the Oscars
The Hollywood & Highland complex (6801 Hollywood Boulevard, CA 90028), houses shops, clubs, restaurants, the Kodak Theatre (home to the Oscars) and a Hollywood costume museum. It cost $615 million, and had brought back some of the glitter and glamour Hollywood was known for. And of course here you find the (in)famous Hollywood Walk Of Fame with the ‘stars’ literally underneath your feet in the pavement. We find it a nice place to hang out, have a coffee at Starbucks, see the Hollywood sign and see a movie, but never really did shopping here. However the Renaissance Hotel, just behind the Mall complex would be a good stay for checking out the area. Checkout www.hollywoodandhighland.com

5. Melrose Avenue, Hollywood
You’re Hip? You’d go to Melrose! Although it ain’t what it use to be, say compared to 5 years ago, you’ll still find new and funky shops emerge here. Checkout the shops on Melrose between La Brea and Fairfax avenues. You’ll find little boutiques and stuff you couldn’t imagine it would exist. Grab a burger at Johny Rockets, a coffee or better yet a ‘Malibu Dream’ at the Coffee Bean or a refreshing smoothie from Jamba Juice. In short, a good top on your way.
