Los Angeles Entertainment

Entertainment comes in many forms, but Los Angeles as a whole of course would be considered the Mecca of it. Hollywood blockbusters, home to the stars, the birthplace of many TV hit shows, famous game shows, theme parks, and all set in a huge stage we call LA or also locally referred to as lalaland. And we read all about it weekly in one of the hundreds of glossy magazines available worldwide reporting about almost nothing but Hollywood stars.

The first time we came to LA, long ago, we felt as if we’ve been here before. And we kind of did, watching the movies and TV shows you also did on your couch back home! The city is one big studio, and it would be hard, we think, to find a street or area where they haven’t filmed yet! Anyway, you could take one of the star tours around the neighborhoods where the rich and famous live, and this will probably be as close as you will get to as many stars’ homes as possible in one ride. You can choose (and book) from different tours in our TravelDesk section Tours&Tickets. You can start these tours usually from Hollywood, opposite Mann’s Chinese Theatre (6925 Hollywood Boulevard, between Highland and La Brea Avenues, checkout www.manntheatres.com, close to the Hollywood & Highland Shopping Mall (www.hollywoodandhighland.com) discussed in more detail in our section about shopping.

Aside from checking out the latest movie releases at one of LA’s many movie theatres (checkout for listings and locations www.amctheatres.com), you could easily bump into people on the streets scouting for travelers such as yourself who would like to see movies before they even get released to the public. A free seat in return for filling out a questionnaire about the movie afterwards. Most chance on finding these scouts are on 3rd Street Promenade Santa Monica and on Hollywood Boulevard (between Fairfax and La Brea).

Wanna go do the real thing, checkout a movie at the famous El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, the beautiful and fully restored décor for all Disney Premieres. Visit: http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/el_capitan/

More into live and stand-up comedy, you also have many options here. One of the best known places around would be however the Comedy Store on 8433 Sunset Boulevard, West-Hollywood. Many famous artists have and still do perform here. Checkout www.thecomedystore.com

Of course, when visiting LA, you could also visit one of many theme parks or get a memorable tour around the most important sites. Then read the next article.
