Flagstaff > Monument Valley

From Flagstaff to Monument Valley is about 180 miles and will take you around 4,5 hours, without stops. From Flagstaff continue onto the US-160 / NAVAJO TRL. Continue to follow US-160. Turn LEFT onto US-163. Turn RIGHT onto MONUMENT VALLEY RD. Stay STRAIGHT to go onto MONUMENT VALLEY RD / MONUMENT VALLEY TRIBAL PARK RD. And you have arrived.

Monument Valley is an area of free standing sandstone rock forms that rise majestically from the desert floor. Up to 1,000 feet tall, they create a truly magical desert landscape. The beauty of the area is a fact well documented by the numerous Western movies and television commercials for which Monument Valley has served as a backdrop.

Make sure you reserve a Hotel in advance as the Monument Valley Region has limited lodging facilities. You can drive yourself through Monument Valley. Just follow the 163 from Kayenta to Mexican Hat. You do not need to drive all the way to Mexican Hat to have the best views. Another popular option would be to book a Guided Jeep Tour. Then you will get an adventurous off-rode ride enabling you to see the cliffs from up close. We do not offer these tours however, you will have to book them locally.
