Monument Valley > Bryce Canyon, Utah

There is actually a page missing here. Its not ment funny, but it is. Page is missing. Page is a small town on the border of Arizona and Utah. Driving from Monument Valley to Bryce Canyon you will pass the Town of Page. And if you have time, you should definitly stop and look around lake Powell or better yet, stay the night and watch the amazing sunrise over the lake! You will find plenty of motels here and you could even consider driving here directly from Flagstaff or Monument Valley when you are looking for ways to save time (and money, Hotels are expensive around Monument Valley). Page is set alongside the shorelines of the huge Lake Powell (named after an early explorer of this area) and the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The red rock around the Glen Canyon and Lake Powell will guarantee an astoniging sunset and sunrice. Get up early!

You will get to Page from the Monument Valley Region by taking the 160 from Kayenta to the 98 toward PAGE and UTAH (Salt Lake City). From Page to Bryce Canyon take the 89 and you will drive past the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. A beautifully preseverd piece of desert land.
Continue onto the 89 until you can turn right onto the 12. The 12 will lead you to the Main Entrance of Bryce Canyon National Park.

Bryce Canyon, National Park

Bryce Canyon is a small national park in southwestern Utah. Named after the Mormon Pioneer Ebenezer Bryce, Bryce Canyon became a national park in 1924. Bryce is famous for its worldly unique geology, consisting of a series of horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters carved from the eastern edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau in southern Utah. The erosional force of frost-wedging and the dissolving power of rainwater has shaped the colorful limestone rock of the Claron Formation into bizarre shapes including slot canyons, windows, fins, and spires called "hoodoos." Tinted with colors too numerous and subtle to name, these whimsically arranged rocks create a wondrous landscape of mazes, offering some of the most exciting and memorable walks and hikes imaginable.

Ponderosa pines, high elevation meadows, and fir-spruce forests border the rim of the plateau and abound with wildlife. This area boasts some of the world's best air quality, offering panoramic views of three states and approaching 200 miles of visibility. This, coupled with the lack of nearby large light sources, creates unparalleled opportunities for stargazing.
